Glasgow Tango Studio is launching this opportunity to learn and to dance
Milonguero Style tango in Glasgow.  We will start with a two month trial
period too see if the format is suitable in encouraging the practice and the
learning of this style of Argentine Tango.

The Milonga
In this milonga the music will be traditional golden era as we want to
encourage the practice of classic styles of tango with a good sense
of floor-craft in use. Along with the Milonguero Style, Close
Embrace Salon style will be encouraged on this dance floor.

Unfortunately this is not the milonga for high flying legs and more
experimental styles of tango We prefer beautiful rhythmical refined
and condensed dances with a sense of respect to your partner
awareness of the overall flow of the dance floor and of the other
couples on the dance floor.

Floor-craft will be covered during our classes Click for the class page.

The Class
In the class we will work with the special features and the movement
vocabulary that distinguishes the milonguero style from the other styles
of social Argentinean tango like those of Close Embrace Salon Style or
Nuevo. The crucial difference in Milonguero is a merged axis that is
created and sustained when the dancers are on the edge of sustaining
their own balance in the embrace.

The Style
Characteristic to this style is that the couple maintains a constant upper
body contact and do not open their embrace to accommodate turns or
ochos. This obviously limits the vocabulary that can be used in the dance.
Regardless of these limitations when danced well this style of tango may
be the most wonderful way of dancing as it really empathizes the feeling
of shared dance moments with your partner. It is also a style that evolved
for the crowded dance floor.

Class level & partners
The class is suitable for all dancers with previous experience of Argentine
Tango regardless of your level of dancing in other styles. If you have
not been taking classes in this particular style of tango do not expect to
master it without learning and practicing. Sometime the simple and the
nicest things are the most challenging, but also they are generally the best.
For those who already have some experience in this style we will do our
best to meet your level and enhance your knowledge and your skills.

For the best learning purposes it is advisable that you come to the
class with a partner with whom you would like to work with during
the class.  We do not rotate partners as we believe that in learning this
style it’s best to be able to work in more depth with one person. You can
and should dance with other people afterwards in the milonga. We will
do our best to find a suitable partner for those of you who want to book
the class as single but unfortunately we cannot guarantee a partner.
