Our approach to teaching and learning tango for the milonga (The Social dance floor)

We believe becoming a good tango dancer is about understanding the basics of body
mechanics and getting your 'tango grammar' right, i.e. to learn the logic of tango leading
and following and how that works as a system of movement language. Thus you will be
more creative in your dance and actually even dance steps you have not been taught!

Stressing the fundamentals of right posture and good connection along with developing
your walking technique is an underlying theme in Glasgow tango studio classes and
methodology. Understanding musicality, the differences and similarities between tango,
milonga and tango vals are also subjects that are likely to recur in our classes.

We do not teach sequences of tango steps as such, though combinations may be used
from time to time for pedagogical purposes in demonstrating how to make variations or
how to break sequences apart.

If you feel you have some gaps in your tango knowledge or you would like to speed up
your learning you should consider some private tuition.
See the private Class page for more on the benefits of one to one tuition

There is no need to pre-book for these classes although regular attendance is
encouraged for you to get the most from our approach.
