Learning anything is an individual process. We learn differently, with different pace. This is of course dependent on how much time we spend practicing the skills we want to learn. Also, some people learn physical skills involving coordination and understanding how the body moves more easily than others. Learning Argentinean tango takes some effort but your endeavours will be credited as learning to tango is an exciting journey into understanding a very subtle bodily communication system. Tango is like a language. We need to learn the grammar and vocabulary and then we can use those skills to improvise the choreography of our dance in the social context. Getting the basics right enables you to create enjoyable dance moments for your dance mates regardless of your level. Quality of your dance is more important than the quantity of your vocabulary, i.e., the moves you know.
Content of teaching
During our classes we will work on the right posture and walking technique to refine connection and how to sustain this while dancing. Understanding musicality, thus the differences between tango, milonga and tango vals will also be subjects in our class. The way we teach is to understand the logic of leading and following and so realize the possibilities of tango as movement language. Thus you can be more creative in your dance and actually dance even steps you have not been taught!
